RASPBERRY DREAMS

Could we all just pause for a moment in this hectic day to worship at this altar of raspberry trimmed with gold?

When I was in Las Vegas for market, I attended a panel that Tobi Fairely was speaking on. She mentioned that the best way to infuse color into a home is to do a monochromatic palette because it reads more as a neutral when you layer the same color (maybe different hues) on top of each other. I think this rule applies to this Miles Redd interior perfectly. Is it completely over the top? Sure. But the fact that it's all one shade makes it a little easier to digest.

But, let's be honest. All I really want are those walls.

A BOLD (NEW) BOURDEAUX

Tonight at Neiman Marcus I'll be helping to present some of the fall's biggest trends with a mini fashion show featuring some of my favorite picks from the store. I'm so excited to be doing some fun things in the fashion arena, as you all know my work usually leans towards interiors. But I'm even more excited that one of their top trend picks also happens to be one of my current favorites: bordeaux!

Paired with a refreshing mint, tangerine or bold blue, this rich wine hue is taking on a whole new life far from the heavy, formal style it used to live in. I can't wait to share some of the bordeaux looks we came up with for the show!

LA DOLCE VITA: MORE RED + GREEN

Yes, I'm still obsessing over the color combo of red + green as we head in August and the sweetest part of summer...

Evoking some vintage nostalgia and a nod to Italian culture (I mean, could that Dolce & Gabbana dress say it any more perfectly?) this mod mix is the perfect style inspiration for the rest of summer... and right on into fall too!

RED, WHITE + GREEN?

While I work on putting together a few more posts from my travels in Italy, this color combination seems quite appropriate to share with you this morning...
red green white
A preppy twist to red, white and blue, the switch to green is unexpected for summer, don't you think? I love the little addition of pale blue or aqua to keep it feeling fresh, too.

As a side note, Nick Olsen really hit this little studio apartment out of the park with his fun design - I immediately tore out the white sofa with green piping for my inspiration board. If you haven't seen it (all over blogland), check out the whole thing on House Beautiful's site.

FIREWORKS + A BERRY BREEZE

Happy 4th of July!!
74091-29a26-17092294-
While it can sometimes be hard for me to celebrate a country that's far from perfect, instead of getting political today, I'm aiming to be thankful for the true meaning of the holiday - our independence and the freedoms we are blessed with in this country.

And that's something worth toasting! How about with a little Berry Breeze? Festive, refreshing and not too frou frou, it's my kinda celebratory drink!

The Berry Breeze:

* One Part Raspberry Vodka
* One Part White Cranberry Juice
* Frozen Crushed Raspberries
* A Blueberry Skewer Garnish

Mix together vodka and cranberry juice, add a small handful of frozen crushed raspberries and garnish with a blueberry skewer. A perfect mix of red, white and blue. Enjoy!

FOODIE FASHIONISTA: SWEET CREAM

Hello dear readers, Crissie (from bug&Bear) here! It's been a hectic week, so today I'm here to remind you of the simple joys in life. The first warm sunny day of spring, a soft gentle breeze drifting through an open window, cool creamy desserts on the most humid of days, and classic colors that will absolutely never go out of style...

Sort of like sweet creamy neutrals and bright bold reds!

So simple, but so so perfect. Now, take a big, deep breath and pause (just for a second) to smile at the little things that make a big difference!

OBSESSION: RED PANTS

Since taking some time off from frivolous shopping (seriously the best thing I could have done for my wardrobe), I've recogznied a few key pieces that I am missing at the moment... one of them being a gorgeous pair of red pants.

Don't get me wrong. I love my denim... but a girl needs options. And when the weather just won't cooperate with my dress fetish, I've got to start getting creative! So, these have got to be my next purchase. Have you been sporting your own pair of fabulous colored trousers? I've seen quite a few out there. Please lend me your recommendations!

PS - is it just me or do her hair and sunglasses look slightly matrix-ish? ew. *image via elle street style via fuji files

A RECURRING THEME...

Not that I usually recommend one color palette for an entire home (unless you have a very small space to work with) but....

The mix of rich teal with pops of red has been one that just seems to stick with me! Yesterday I reported from my twitter that there is still a big surge of teal in the marketplace - we saw it in lots of leather goods in High Point - but my favorite way to use it is definitely as a base for the room - whether on the walls, cabinets or floors - with that pop of red and plenty of natural light so it doesn't feel too heavy. Do you think this a color scheme that's doable for your home?

I LOVE...

I'm pretty sure there is no possible way this DVF bag could get any better...

The broad stripes with tan strap and red lining make it irresistible. Pairing it with this vintage Ferragamo cuff, however, might be the best mind-blowing combination ever.

RAH RAH RED...

Maybe it's the sudden proximity of the holidays, or the fact that I keep being told that red is 'my color'...
